Accessibility for Guests with Disabilities

What if people with disabilities came to remind us of the importance of slowing down?

Our first two armchair guests tell you about it better than we can:

We stayed there for 2 weeks, believe me it was per-fect. The house is great, the garden is great, the view is incredible! First: the location, it's a very quiet place, no neighbors, just people coming to fish, but nothing to disturb your peace! Secondly: The house, superb, indefinable, heavenly, with bay windows all around to let in the light, and the sea breeze! No TV, but the Wifi is good for putting on some music if you're tired of the beautiful song of the waves and want to get on the social networks to make everyone jealous! Finally, the garden: if, like me, you love being outside, you'll love it! Two hammocks, a lovely pool, trees, shady sides, sunny sides! If you're not happy, you've got a problem! I want to add a word for people like me in wheelchairs. The house is perfect for us too! Very flat, huge spaces for our wheels, the kitchen is a bit too high for cooking, but you can use the sink to participate and do the dishes (lol), a nice bedroom and a very functional bathroom! And now, last but not least! The owners Nicolas and Alice are intelligent people, they understood perfectly our needs, and what people need when they are on vacation! They are very discreet and so available at the same time! This house becomes your paradise for the time you stay, but they are very present to make sure you enjoy it to the full! I can't wait for next year, because for sure, I'll be back in this house for 2018!

Hello, We loved it, especially the children. As soon as they arrived compared the house to Robinson CRUSOE. This Eco lodge with pool is very functional and spacious, well adapted for disabled people too. The musical background is composed of the sea during the day and the sea, crickets, frogs and toads at night. Our stay was divided between the pool (very nice), the various beaches and visits to the island. We'll definitely be back. We would like to thank Alice and Nicolas for their warm welcome and the invaluable advice they gave us.

The first floor is entirely on one level, without obstacles, with all openings 90 cm / 35" wide.

It includes a large bedroom with a bed of adapted height (between 45 and 50 cm / 17.7" and 19.7"), and a large bathroom equipped for wheelchair users, with a very spacious walk-in shower.

The kitchen is open and spacious, so you can move around freely in a wheelchair, but it is not equipped for wheelchair users.

Pets, especially service dogs, are welcome.

For your specific needs (wheelchairs for the swimming pool, adapted cabs, adapted excursions, rental of medical equipment, etc.) we are in contact with the Martinique Access'Ile association http://handicaptourisme.net/ which offers this type of service.

This association has published a guide (in French) that can be downloaded for a few euros: Guide Martinique Access'Ile.

Practical details:

- Between the parking lot and the entrance, the access road is gravel, partly covered with grass.

- Between the interior and the terrace, a PVC joinery rail (see photo opposite) creates an obstacle.

Thanks to those who encouraged and advised us in this process, in chronological order:

- Noël, from the Martinique Access'Île association http://handicaptourisme.net/ for his design advice and all the generous work he does through his association.

- Serge and Salika, the first to trust us as hosts

- Audrey, for her enthusiasm, unfailing support and judicious suggestions

- Rudy and Julien, from the Handilol association http://handilol.wixsite.com/ha..., for their interest in our island and our ecolodge, and for their precise questions that prompted us to write this page.
